The level selection menu
In singleplayer mode, the gameplay is divided into nine levels. Each level has its own distinct theme, which is loosely connected with the level's name. For example, Clone uses the cloning mechanic throughout the level. These themes are not necessarily about a specific mechanic; they can also be about the level's surroundings or a chapter in the storyline.
Most levels generally begin with the player awakening to the sound of an alarm clock in a bedroom located in Suite F (Suite D for Dollhouse, and ends by entering an elevator. However, this is not always consistent, as some levels do not end with an elevator. This is the case for Induction, Labyrinth, Whitespace, and Retrospect.
The levels are not limited to what they are focused on, as some mechanics occasionally appear later in the game.

Each of the nine levels has 5 Collectible types, which are described below:
- Fire Alarms - Red Fire Alarms that need to be pulled in order to collect them. They vary in quantity between levels. They are represented by a Fire Alarm Icon. Once all are pulled, a button on the main menu is added allowing to actually initiate a process of extinguishing fires.
- Fire Extinguisher - Red Fire Extinguishers that have to be pressed upon 4 times in order to collect and empty them. They vary in quantity between levels. They are represented by a Fire Extinguisher Icon. Once all are emptied, all Fire Extinguishers (including the ones from Retrospect can be activated to initiate a flame.
- Constellations/Constellation Rooms - Large Circular Rooms that have hidden entrances. They contain lots of stars inside. Aligning correctly makes players able to see a constellation of a common object from the game. The constellations must be clicked in order to collect them. There is usually one per level. They are represented by a constellation of a running person, as seen on exit signs. Once a constellation is found, its object becomes available to play with on the title screen. Once all are collected, the title screen becomes playable.
- Chess Pieces - Blue and Red Chess Pieces that are found hidden in levels. The player must interact with them in order to vanish them and collect them. There are total 15 to be collected. The player can keep track of them using the computer in the starting Office which shows which ones have already been collected. Once all are gathered, pressing the monitor takes the player to a secret room of the match of Garry Kasparov and Deep Blue in Whitespace. They vary in quantity between levels. They are represented by a Pawn Icon.
- Blueprints - Blue papers that show models of areas from the entire game. To be collected they must be interacted with, printing the schemes. The player can keep track of them by using the Billboard behind the gate to the right of Suite F. They vary in quantity between levels. Once all 15 are collected, Suite E and C open up.
